It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

I thought I'd share just a few pics of the Christmas decorations around our house. I typically do a lot more but am keeping it very simple this year...

Living room mantle

The mantle has a snowman runner on it that I LOVE because Steve's mom and aunt made it for us - plus, I collect snowmen and I just think it's sweet. I have several hurricane covers around the house that I've turned upright & filled with potpourri or ornaments - this one is filled with apple green ornaments. I found the wreath holder at Linen's and Things "going out of business sale - their loss is your gain" for about $13 - woo hoo! I purchased the wreath at the Owasso Christmas Tree Farm, already decorated with holly and pinecones. I love it's fresh pine smell! Here's a few more pics of the farm when we were there one day last week...

Dining Room

Our dining room is already red and my valance and chair covers are a red toile, my ultra favorite fabric, but this year I decided to add black to the table. I found the table cloth, again at the Linen's and Things "going out of business" sale, for a mere $14! Then I added a red and white velvet snowflake table runner, a black wrought-iron tray filled with red and white striped, sparkly ornaments, and a few black ones, as well. I filled 2 hurricane lamps with cinnamon-scented potpourri and topped it off with a little flashy beaded garland. I also hung a few red ornaments by red ribbon from the chandelier above the table.

Kitchen

The Christmas colors in my kitchen are mostly apple green and bright cherry red. If you can't tell, I love a great bargain & I found the placemats at Target for about $2each. More apple green ornaments surround a snowman on a tray as the table centerpiece and again, I love to hang ornaments by ribbon from the chandelier. Our mantle displays a fun Christmas village that Steve's mom has given us that makes the kitchen bright and cheery. In the window, I have wine glasses displayed that have a different Christmas scene painted on each one. I then filled each glass with decorations that I thought matched the scene. In the Christmas tree glass, I have miniature ornaments. In the reindeer glass, are red garland beads but I usually fill it with cracked nuts - I just haven't gotten any this year yet. The Santa glass is filled with miniature wrapped presents and the snowman glass is filled with wintermints. I thought it helped make the window festive, plus I get a little snack while doing the dishes ;-)

Our Christmas Tree

Our tree is kind of a hodge-podge of ornaments but I love it because probably 90% of them were given to us and so it has great memories for us to share and talk about. I made the garland years ago when "country" was "in". It's just some rough, thin, rope that I tied fabric strips to. Even though I'm no long into country, I like it because it's simple and not flashy.
