For my girls because they think Marcel is hilarious...

Special thanks to Aunt Nicole for contributing to our delinquency ;-)

Oh Happy Day!

Our 10 year-old, Abby, actually asked Jesus to live in her heart back when she was 6 years old...

She recently decided she wanted to get baptized to show the world she loves Jesus so she attended a baptism class at our church. Fourteen children went through the class and decided to get baptized so we had a special baptism service this past Sunday. It was especially special for us because Steve baptized Abby...

Our church held a luncheon afterwards for the kids that got baptized and their families...

The kids received baptism certificates...

They also received a nice, leather bound Bible with their name engraved on it and a book called "The Tanglewood's Secret" - an awesome book out the Lord being our Shepherd. I highly recommend this book for tweens and teens. It's one of our favorites!

And she opened a few special gifts after we got home...

And I just had to add these pics Abby painted after she was baptized...

Abby baptized by her daddy ;-)

What a special day that we'll always treasure!

Girly Me Missions at the Owasso Harvest Festival and Chili Cook-Off

Our girls and some of their friends are part of a ministry called "Girly Me Missions". They make and sell items at craft shows and all of their profits go to support Nelly, a five year old girl, living at Calo Me Lare, an orphanage that Project Hope Worldwide built.

They recently had a booth at the Owasso Harvest Festival and Chili Cook-Off. This is one of their favorite events because it's so fun and it's usually a pretty good money maker for them. This year they decided to compete in the Chili Cook-Off and made "African Chili" to serve out to the tasters...

It really did taste great and they actually took 1st place for "Best Chili" in the Youth Division (winning the $400 prize!) and they took first for "Best Booth" ($100 prize!)! Here's pics from our fun day...

I'm so proud of those girls and their hard work! With their winnings, they made a donation to Project Hope Worldwide...

and they purchased nine cribs for Arise and Shine Babies Home in Jinja, Uganda. Many of the babies have to share cribs so this will help them out tremendously!

I told my friend and fellow GMM mom, Nicole, that we needed a t-shirt that said "We survived the Owasso Chili Cook-Off and lived to tell about it!" Whew! It's just as much work for the moms that support their girls - but it's worth it ;-)

Grown Up Field Trip to Pinot's Palette

I recently went to Pinot's Palette with some friends from the Art Community for Christ for a fun night of painting. We mostly wanted to learn how they do their paint nights because we would like to offer something similar at The Studio: Art on Main. In fact, our first paint night is scheduled for December 1st - should be great fun!

Here's the description for the painting we did...

"You can’t deny there is something mystical about dragonflies. To the Japanese, it symbolizes summer and autumn and is admired and respected all over. The Chinese culture associated the dragonfly with prosperity, harmony and views the image as a good luck charm. Amongst Native Americans, it is a sign of happiness, speed and purity. At Pinot’s Palette we think the dragonfly is a whimsical and enchanting muse, perfect for a relaxing night out!"

And here's pics from our fun night...
