Last Christmas Celebration

We had our last Christmas celebration with my dad, step-mom and sisters today. They drove in from OKC so we were a little concerned they weren't going to be able to make it because of the snow but they drove slow and did just fine. They gave the girls American Girl scrapbooks which they LOVE and have already started putting them together. We had chili and cornbread for lunch and the girls had fun playing outside in the snow (while the rest of us watched from the warm inside!) Here's a few pics from today's visit...

"A" made this cute little snowgirl all by herself ;-)

Christmas Afternoon in Claremore

We spent Christmas afternoon at Steve's aunt and uncle's house in Claremore. Getting there was "fun" in the snow but it was good to all be together. We ate delicious food and had fun playing "Dirty Santa". Here's a few pics from our day...

A Christmas to Remember

Christmas '09 in Sperry

We celebrated Christmas with Steve's family last night at his parent's house in Sperry. It had started sleeting early morning and it finally turned to snow late afternoon. It was so pretty but it soon turned into blizzard conditions and driving home was definitely an adventure. We had a great time and of course my favorite gifts were the homemade ones. Here's a few pics from our fun evening together...

Tour of Our Little House Log Cabin

Today is Christmas Eve and the girls have been having a ball for two whole days now playing "Little House on the Prairie". They turned our upstairs loft area into their "log cabin" and decorated it like it was back in the pioneer days. "M" is the responsible, older sister, Mary, and "A" is the spirited, younger sister, Laura, who apparently is currently sick with Scarlett Fever :-O "Little House" music is playing in the background from our "Prairie Primer" blog. They are having so much fun. Here's a tour of their "work"...

The Velveteen Rabbit

I have a new favorite movie that actually came out at the beginning of this year but we just watched it today for the first time. It's The Velveteen Rabbit and it's seriously one of the best kid's movies I've seen in a long time. I even liked it so much I'm totally going to be dropping hints to my family that it would make a great Christmas gift for ME! The movie's "official" website can be found here and here's the movie's trailer...

And here's a few pics from our fun movie date and lunch at Spaghetti Warehouse! Yea for Christmas break and more time to do fun things with friends!

And of course, the teacher and homeschool mom in me has to post lesson plans and links that go along with this book so here you go...

3rd Annual Celebration of the Arts

Our church had it's "3rd Annual Celebration of the Arts" last night which is a talent show made up of people within our community. It was amazing to me how much talent there is out there! I wish I could have taped everyone, but I didn't have enough space on my camera! Here's a few clips and photos from the night...

Our Worship Leader, Kelley Compton, was the emcee of the evening. She put in LOTS of hard work and many, many hours for the evening to be a great success. She did an amazing job!

Dan Gibson is a very talented artist who painted canvasses off to the side throughout the night while the performances were going on. He does great work!

There's "M" in the black, red and white floral dress :-)

After the show, cookies, lemonade and hot chocolate were served. Anytime food is served, that's "A's" favorite part of the show! We had a great time and look forward to the show next year!

Peace On Earth

"M" and the Girl's Choir sang "Peace on Earth" by Casting Crowns at church this morning. Such sweet voices :-)

Co-Op Christmas Party

We had our annual homeschool Co-Op Christmas Party this past Friday. The kids had a great time decorating Christmas cookies, making an ornament craft and playing games. We're so blessed to have such wonderful families in our Co-Op and I really appreciate the hard work that went into planning this fun event!
