Service Project with Reach Clothing

Our homeschool co-op participated in a service project today with Reach Clothing. Their website says, "Reach Clothing was started after hearing about a young boy who was being teased for wearing the same shirt to school. After this, the idea came about to start a clothing company. Reach Clothing wants to give back to people; therefore, with every item you purchase Reach Clothing will donate the same item to men, women, and children in need." So, our kids got to help print silk-screen t-shirts, stick labels on them, and fold the shirts, as well. Such a great concept and a fun project to help out with, too. Apple Camp 2012

The girls just finished taking Computer Camp at the Apple store with their buddy, Emily. They had so much fun making a video and setting it to music. My girls took this camp last year & really enjoyed it so we knew we had to take it again this summer. Here's a few pics from camp...

Totally Stitchin' Summer Camp

Mackenzie had so much fun this past week taking the "Totally Stitchin' Summer Camp" at B-Sew Inn in Tulsa. The camp was 3 hours a day, Monday through Friday, and when the Camp was over, they got to keep a Baby Lock sewing machine. Let me tell you, that girl was in heaven every day of Camp. She loves to sew with her Nanny and this camp really took her skills to the next level.

On the last day of Camp, they had a brief ceremony where all the girls were given certificates and their brand new sewing machines to take home...

Could not wipe that smile off Kenzie's face. She was so excited to get home and try it out. And try it out she did - for hours and hours. She loves that machine and I love that she loves to sew. 

Lots more opportunities for making things for gifts and for Girly Me Missions crafts. I think this might be a hobby she sticks with for the rest of her life ;-)

Our Adoption Update

I just realized I don't think I've even posted on this blog that we are trying to adopt a child from Uganda. Sorry if this is new news to you - we've actually been looking into it since last Christmas and things are moving along pretty well, all things considering. We've learned a lot about international adoption within these past six months and still have much to learn but we truly feel the call from God to adopt and are seeking to follow His will.

The girls just received their passports and we're excited to travel to Uganda together as a family when it's time to adopt our child. You can follow our story on our adoption blog here. We truly appreciate your prayers for guidance and discernment as we learn through this process and wait on God's timing - often times a hard lesson to learn ;-)

Celebrating Independence Day

This year, to celebrate the 4th of July, we...

saw Midlife Crisis in concert and watched the fireworks at Stone Canyon in Owasso...

watched fireworks at Freedom Fest at Freedom Church...

went to Steve's parents for a 4th of July family gathering...

And we did our yearly tradition of watching fireworks from our roof...

Last year, during the 4th of July, Steve was on his missions trip to Uganda so we were all pretty happy to be celebrating together as a family this year! Fun times and fun memories ;-)

Back From Uganda!

I just got back from a missions trip to Uganda and had an amazing time! Our team consisted of about 15 people and we had so much fun hanging out with kids living at Calo Me Lare, an orphanage that Project Hope Worldwide built. To see pics & videos of our trip, please visit my Uganda trip blog here.
