Girlz Night In
Steve had to work in OKC yesterday and didn't get home until late last night so the girlz and I had a Girlz Night In. "M" has an American Girl book called Just Mom and Me that has lots of cute and fun activities that moms and daughters can do together. So we did one last night - we made door hangers from scrapbook paper, stamps and stickers.
Then we made pizza from hamburger buns for dinner...
And made banana bread...

"A" and Steve went to dinner at Baja Jacks then did the usual shopping at Target, Justice and Kohl's. Steve's such a good daddy to take the girlz shopping. They typically just buy one little thing for themselves and one little thing for each other. They like to surprise each other and exchange their gifts when we meet up back at home. So sweet ;-)
"M" and I hooked up with our friends Emma and Allison. We ate dinner at Panera then went shopping at the mall. Had great fun finding bargains and searching for just the right zany bandz!

The Girlz Bedroom Makeovers
The girlz decided after six years of sharing the same room that they wanted their own bedrooms. We only have three bedrooms - one is the master, of course, one was the girl's room and the other we had turned into their "dance" room. So... we had to say goodbye to the dance room. It was a hard thing to do - especially for me because I'm so sentimental. I just remember all the fun times they had in their dance room with their friends and performing dances for Steve and me on the dance stage.
We gave the dance stage to friends so that helped the girls (and me) not be so sad. Now they can go to their friend's house and see it! Plus, it brought us joy that another family could enjoy it like we did. These are pics of the night they came over to get it and the girlz performed their last dances on the stage.
Then the destruction began. This is when I had to leave the room :-(
The girl's bedroom has seen a lot of changes over the years. Here's pics from when it was a nursery...
So we asked the girlz if they wanted to be surprised or if they wanted to be part of the makeover and they asked to be surprised. Steve and I love to surprise them with makeovers - it's just kind of fun for us. We love to see how excited they get when they see the change for the first time. Here's some pics from when we surprised them with a makeover of our gameroom/homeschool room last year.
It took several weeks of hard work and LOTS of coats of paint but we finally finished the rooms yesterday, with the exception of adding things to the shelves and hanging a few pictures. Here they are so excited to go see their new rooms...

We now have two very happy and giggly girlz who are busy as I write this decorating their rooms and making them their own :-)

Visit With My Sis and Nephews
My sister and her three boys came to visit us this week from OKC. We had such a great time together!

Blackberry Cobbler Recipe - Pioneer Woman style
I just made the Pioneer Woman's Blackberry Cobbler and it was fantastic! Here's the recipe...
Pioneer Woman's Blackberry Cobbler
Makes 6-8 servings
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 1/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar
1 cup all purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup while milk
2 cups fresh or frozen blackberries
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 3-quart baking dish with butter.
Rinse the blackberries and dry on a paper towel. Set aside.
In a medium bowl, stir together 1 cup of the sugar, the flour, baking powder, and salt. Add the milk and combine. Add the melted butter and whisk until smooth. Pour the batter into the greased baking dish. Scatter the top with all of the blackberries. Sprinkle 1/4 cup of sugar over the top.
Bake for approximately 1 hour or until edges are crispy. When 10 minutes remain of cooking time, sprinkle with remaining 2 tablespoons sugar.
Serve warm with whipped cream or ice cream, or both.
Tea Party Celebration in the Country
I took the girlz to a Tea Party Celebration in the country this past weekend. Steve's mom went, too, and we had a really great time.
The Tea Party was hosted by Debra Honn, author of Let's Have Tea, a sixty-lesson, five-year tea party planning instruction guide geared toward young girls. She spoke about raising girls to have good manners and to have godly character. We had fun eating cookies and drinking "tea", making a craft, going on a hay ride, touring a log cabin replica from the 1800's, participating in a relay race and cooking hot dogs over a fire. Here's a few pics from our fun day.

Art Camp 2010
The girlz just completed a week of Art Camp at the Owasso Community Center and they loooved it! Of course, they love any chance they can get to paint and draw. They come by that naturally, I suppose ;-) Their teacher was Mrs. Kuhns and she did a FaBuLoUs job! The girlz learned so much and hope to attend next summer, as well.

4th of July 2010
We had a great time celebrating the 4th of July this year! Our first celebration was at the Stone Canyon Concert Series this past Thursday night. There was a ton of people there, lots of food and beverage vendors, great music, fantastic fireworks and fun friends!
The following morning, our homeschool co-op came over for a little 4th of July bike parade and picnic. The kids were so cute riding their decorated bikes and scooters.
The next night we went to a friend's house to watch Owasso's fireworks which were set off at the high school close by.
Then, on the 4th of July, we went to Steve's parent's house for our annual 4th of July celebration.
And finally, after we got home, we watched fireworks from on top of our roof. We started this tradition last year and the girlz love it!
It was a great time to reflect and thank God and our veteran's for the freedoms we enjoy.
