I'm Goin' To See U2! :-D

I love to listen to music of all genres (with the exception of Country or Opera). But my all-time favorite band since about 1984 is U2. I love love love them and never get tired of listening to their music. I love the guitar, love Bono's voice, love their lyrics. Love.

As big as a fan I am of theirs, I have never seen U2 in concert. They came to Oklahoma a few years ago and I wasn't able to go. I remember sitting at home sulking like a big baby. It was quite a pitiful site. I could not believe U2 was in my state and I was not at their concert.

My sweet husband gave me a card for Easter this year, which is a little unusual because we don't usually exchange cards at Easter. It read, "Dear Christy, I hope you have a Beautiful Day today. I am so thankful that Yahweh has made us One, In the Name of Love. So, Get on Your Boots and Breathe and know that I Desire You." I thought he was just trying to be clever using U2 titles in my message but I thought it was a little odd that he would do that in my Easter card of all things. Then I opened a printout of tickets to an upcoming U2 concert! I could not believe my eyes! He was going to tell me on Mother's Day but our calendar has been filling up quickly so he thought he better tell me sooner, rather than later, so we could save the date.

So we will be celebrating our 19th Anniversary this year at U2's 360 Tour concert. I am so super excited and am counting down the days! In honor of the concert and because I'm just a big U2 dork, I've made a U2 playlist (also on the right-hand column of my blog) and here's a few of my favorite U2 videos. Enjoy ;-)

My Two Little Monkeys

My two sweet, girly girls who love dress-up and dancing have turned into little monkeys lately! I'm trying not to let it bother me but they are climbing on EVERYTHING - and they aren't two years old anymore! Their latest thing they like to climb is the wood trim inside our doorways. I guess it doesn't hurt anything and they are getting a little exercise so I'm trying not to let it DRIVE ME NUTS! I even saw "A" reading a book the other day while carefully balancing herself up high inside the door trim. I suppose I should go ahead and apologize if my girls happen to be at your house and start climbing things. Now that I think of it though, I'm sure this is going to be one of those things I look back on in a few years and get a good giggle from, and maybe even a little sad that those days are gone.

My poor, neglected flower beds...

I have to admit I've been basically worthless around the house this past week. Working out at the Y & swim lessons has taken up our mornings and every afternoon we've either had a playdate with friends or had errands to run. We've been home just long enough to make a mess but not long enough to clean it up. In order to redeem myself, I thought I'd tackle our overgrown flower beds. (It has nothing to do with cleaning the inside of my house - but at least it's something!) Also, my friend, Dawn, has challenged her blogging buddies to find one project around the house each week to begin and finish and post before and after pics of it on our blogs. Well, here's my only accomplishment for the week - pitiful, I know...


The shrubs and hostas got a major hair cut. What a mess! Where's Big Tree Landscaping when you need them?!

Do NOT let your driver's license expire - especially if you were born outside the U.S.!!!

Sorry - but I just had to vent...

Have you heard the warning that you shouldn't let your driver's license expire - even one day - because of the passage of HB 1804? Well, I heard the warning but didn't pay much attention to it until February 1st when I wrote a check and noticed my license had expired the day before! So, on February 2nd, I thought I could just pop down to the tag agency & get a new license with no headaches. Boy, was I wrong! Fortunately, I called the tag agency ahead of time & asked what I needed to bring with me to renew my driver's license. They told me I would have to take my original birth certificate to the Dept. of Transportation in Claremore, Tulsa or Broken Arrow - Owasso was not one of the choices, mind you. After searching our house up and down for my birth certificate and not being able to find it, I called back and asked what I needed to do if I couldn't find my certificate. The tag agency asked me which state I was born in. When I told her I was born in Germany, she said, "Uh - you better just pray you can find your birth certificate!"

Needless to say, I couldn't find it & had to send documented evidence of who I was, where I was born, who my parents are, etc. to Washington D.C. - along with a $30 check. After about 8 weeks of waiting impatiently and driving illegally, I finally received my birth certificate in the mail a few days ago!

Last night, I heard on the news how the police were stopping drivers a few miles up the road from where we live to make sure they had updated driver's licenses and insurance. So...today I drove to Claremore to get my new driver's license. Apparently, the address they listed on the internet is the wrong address because I drove around for about 45 minutes looking for it! I later learned they moved to the other side of town! If you've ever been to Claremore, you know that there is a stop light practically every block & LOTS of trains go through town so you have to sit and wait in traffic quite a bit. By the time I finally found the Dept. of Transportation, I was fuming and should have been praying for patience. All they did was sign a paper and I then had to take that to the tag agency! Why could't I just get my license there?! I don't understand!!!

So, I wanted out of Claremore asap so we (yes, I drug the girls along with me & they were having a blast - kidding, of course, about having a blast) drove to the Owasso Tag Agency and got my driver's license. Of course, this took up our entire afternoon today. So I beg you now - get up out of your seat and go check your driver's license expiration date. Right now - GO!!! Let this be a lesson to you and don't let yours expire!!!

Confession time

I have a really bad habit of letting mail and miscellaneous papers pile up on our kitchen island. Of course, the papers are organized into piles - mine, Steve's and the girls. However, I let them pile up so high and don't go through them until I have to. And what's worse, if I know someone is coming over, the way I solve my messy kitchen island mess is I throw all of the piles into Wal-Mart sacks and toss them into my bedroom closet. (My hubby just LOVES me for this!) Needless to say, if I don't go through those sacks on occasion, they pile up, too! Well, after hardly being able to open the closet door any more and after not being able to reach my clothes any longer, I finally decided to clean out my closet this weekend. It took me 6 hours and I'm still not quite done, but I got a lot completed. I even had sacks from three or four years ago that I needed to go through! By the end of the day, I had 4 overflowing sacks of trash! Quite pitiful! I try to stay organized with other things, but this is just one of my many flaws I need to work on ;-) So if you're ever going to drop by my house, please let me know ahead of time, so I can clean off my kitchen island and add a new Wal-Mart sack of stuff to my closet ;-)

oh, the pressure!!!

so i finally started a blog. hopefully i'll keep up with it - but there's no promises ;-) it's very late so i'll try to add more tomorrow!
