Mad Scientists Have Invaded Our House!

The girlz decided to play "mad scientists" this morning - complete with safety goggles, name tags, rubber gloves and "lab coats". They told me to "Skid-addle, Mom. This is serious business." In other words, "We don't want you to see the mess we're making and stuff we're getting in to." Here's a few pics from their "experimenting"...

The "laboratory", a.k.a. the "lavatory"...

Squirting water on Nerds candy - enjoying the "fizzle" sound...

Their version of "dry" ice...

The scientists...

The best place to buy science experiments for kids in our town is Classroom Corner. They have a great selection of concoctions!

Making C.S., a.k.a "Cool Slime"...

Mixing chemicals...

Love that goop!

Making a lava lamp...

Watching the ingredients bubble...

I'm thinking this Saturday morning should count towards our school hours ;-)

The girlz just love science and one of their favorite science dudes is Bill Nye the Science Guy. We have lots of his videos posted on our homeschool site here. Just go to the right-hand column and scroll down to "Bill Nye Videos Used on This Site". There's lots of topics from germs to nutrition to the sun. Check him out!

My Sister

by "A", 7 years old

My sister always cheers me up and she always makes good surprises. She is a one of a kind. I love her so so very much and that is what she is.

An AmAzInG Testimony

This short video testimony was played at our church this past Sunday. Amber was baptized right after it was played. You HAVE to watch this AmAzInG story!!!

My Friends

By "A", 7 years old

My friends. What makes my life special is my friends. My friends make me smile and laugh and when I am sad they cheer me up. That is friends.

"A's" Paintings

"A" got in a painting mood yesterday so I had to post a few of her cute pictures. I just love kid art! It makes me smile ;-)

Valentine's Day 2010

What a sweet Valentine's Day ;-)

Steve and I got breakfast in bed...

and sweet cards from the girlz...

Then the girlz decorated heart-shaped cupcakes and a cake for Steve...

A Froggy Nursery for Baby Samuel

I just finished painting a nursery for a dear friend of mine who is having her 4th child any day now. I love painting nurseries - they are so fun and happy! I hope baby Samuel likes his new froggy room!

The inspiration fabric for the room...

Daddy/Daughter Dance

Steve recently took the girls out on a date to a Daddy/Daughter Dance, a fundraiser at a local elementary to raise money for Odyssey of the Mind. Steve said the girls had so much fun and couldn't stop smiling the entire evening! Here's a few pics from their fun night out...

Casting Crowns in Concert

Steve and I recently saw Casting Crowns in concert at the Spirit Bank Center in Tulsa. It was our first time to go to a concert there since it opened last year and I was really impressed with it! We went early and parked RIGHT NEXT DOOR to the Center in a PARKING GARAGE and the parking was FREE - unheard of!!!

Then we ate dinner with some great friends we hadn't seen in a while (see pic to the left). There were a ton of restaurants to choose from - all within WALKING DISTANCE from the Center - again unheard of in our parts! We ate at the Clubhouse Bar and Grill which looked like a trendy place you'd see in Scottsdale - not in Oklahoma - just sayin'. The food was DELICIOUS! We had great seats at the concert and we always enjoy hearing Casting Crowns when they come in town. All the band members are so multi-talented. Love to see them using their gifts for God! Here's a video of them singing "Voice of Truth" - one of my favorite songs...

The OKC Museum of Art

After attending Homeschool Day at the state capitol, we decided to go to the OKC Museum of Art, which was only a few minutes away. My dad actually works there so the girlz and I thought we'd go and surprise him - plus, we love any excuse to go to a museum! Here's a few pics from our visit...

Homeschool Day at the Oklahoma State Capitol

At this time every year, the Oklahoma State Capitol hosts a Homeschooling Day. This was our first year to go and a great experience for the girls. I don't think I've been to the capitol since I was young, so it was a fun experience for me, too! We got to meet some of our State Representatives including David Derby and Randy Brogdon. We enjoyed walking through the capitol building - admiring it's beautiful artwork and intricate architecture. We had a great turnout from the homeschool community and look forward to attending again next year!

So Sew Pretty!

The girlz spent the weekend with Steve's parents and had a great time sewing - which I am so grateful for because I don't sew. I love that they are able to create things together and, of course, homemade gifts are my FAVORITE kind of gifts ever! Here's some pics of pillow covers the girlz made with their Nanny this weekend. So sweet and creative ;-)
